Why is it the man's job to be "the spiritual head, as the responsible provider, and as the initiator of love?" Is it wrong for a woman to initiate love? And the womna must, "have that inner beauty of soul that never fades; that eternal youth that is found in holding fast the things that never age."
Doesn't this scream Madonna-whore complex to you??? The man initiates everything and woman maintains a childlike soul?? The kind of eternal youth that never ages??? That just seems so degrading. I would never use this ceremony for my wedding but good luck to those who do. Just my two cents! |

| These vows are perfect for me........One of my favorite sayings has always been "I wish you enough rain to enjoy the sun", meaning that the rough places in life make you enjoy the good stuff even more. So the fact that these vows incorporate that idea in them brought me to tears. I love the simple wording, and the challenge to always be encouraging each other, even when life is difficult. |

Hey Vivi,
If you even read this again and I pray that you do, I wanted to let you know that the reasoning behind the man being the head is that Christ wanted the man to lead out as Christ and he must also love his wife as Christ loved the church. This is an amazing love that is both understanding and completely supportive. As for the woman being submissive it isn't degrading at all. Women are called to willingly put their husbands above their selves. Also, since the husband should be submitting to God as his authority, when you submit you are actually submitting yourself to Christ! I hope this helps and/or makes sense to you. It's actually a really beautiful thing! |
