The Art Of A Good Marriage Comments

  • Officiant

Just an FYI, the author of this piece, Wilfred Peterson, named it The Art of Marriage, not The Art of a Good Marriage.

And as Mark commented above, the 5th to last line is not supposed to contain the word "old".

  • It is very good but

I hate to get picky, because it is very good. However, the original omits the word "old" in the fifth to last line. Take that word out and the meaning changes subtly.
Then the next line in the original is "It is finding room for things of the spirit".
This is another good goal for a marriage.

  • 10 years later

This poem was read at our wedding 10 years ago. 10 years later, while each line is very true, I think the last two are the most significant in sustaining a healthy marriage: "It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, the dependence is mutual, and the obligation is reciprocal. It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner."

    Tracy 2010-05-27

  • its true

I think before the marriage there must be something but that love should be grown up otherwise there is nothing to lose.
