Hands of the Bride & Groom Comments

  • Beautiful Addition to Our Daughters Wedding

My daughter asked me to read something for their ceremony on 10-24-20. She let me choose and I somehow found this amazing reading. As a surprise, I asked the grooms mom to read the part where he holds her hands. It was so special since we could only have a very small ceremony for them! Thank you for sharing this!!

  • Mom of the Bride (20 years later)

While cleaning a closet today, because we are isolated in our homes due to the Coronavirus, I stumbled on a weathered folder that contained all the documents we used to prepare for our daughter's wedding. One of the faded documents was this poem, submitted by Jeanette Bursey LeBlanc. It was shared at Tom and Rachel Gunderson's wedding on August 25, 2000. I am proud to say that this August Rachel and Tom will be married for 20 years. They have faced many challenges together. The words of the poem are so prophetic as they endured high-risk pregnancies five years apart, having two baby boys born at 28 weeks gestation and each weighing in at 2 1/2 lbs. Gavin and Ian are now 18 and 13 years old. You would never know they were premature looking at them today. Actually, I don't think many of their friends know they were premature. Our plan is to give Tom and Rachel the tattered folder, along with the poem, for their anniversary in August. They will have many more memories over the next 20 years and their hands will still be there to support one another.

  • Loved it and used it

We used this in our wedding in 2005. I gave a copy to our preacher during the rehearsal. It brought years to her eyes and she told me that she would have to read it several times so that she could make it through the cerony without crying. So glad we used this, it's very special to me.

  • Repetitive

I'd be scared someone would say, "These are the hands that are going to punch you if you say "hands" one more time.

  • Baby making machine

No one else feels like this down grades women? The women will give massages after a long day of work, she will continue to rejoice in popping out babies? I really liked it until it got to what they had to say about the bride.

  • beautiful

This is usually followed by a handfasting in celtic or neo-pagan weddings. I have seen it at a wedding and it is a real emotional part of the ceremony. If you use this make sure your moms have kleenex handy.
